Need someone to talk to? We offer a 24 hours per day, seven days a week helpline phone service answered by recovering addicts from our Helpline/Public Relations Subcommittee. Our Narcotics Anonymous literature states that the therapeutic value of one addict helping another is without parallel; for one addict can best understand and help another addict.
Responsiveness is a key principle for our helpline service. Our volunteers will engage with callers in a sensitive, appropriate, and helpful manner. Our volunteers possess essential leadership qualities such as integrity, the ability to listen, and sound judgment to provide these services. However, our members are not counselors or crisis workers.
We will not give referrals to any treatment centers, or detoxification units. Instead, if available, we can provide a list of any and all local treatment centers and not align or affiliate ourselves with one in particular.
Family members and loved ones of addicts frequently call our helplines. Volunteers can provide numbers for Nar-Anon or other similar information. But remember that we will not recommend one program over another or offer our opinions about any of these programs.
